Spring has arrived early this year, here in The Netherlands, the warmest February day ever was measured on the 27th, a balmy 20 degrees, which is more like Summer warmth in this country. Now I am not complaining as I love love love to feel the sun caress my skin and drink it it’s rich and much needed nourishment. However let’s be honest this isn’t ‘normal’. Exactly this time last year I was wearing a big fake fur hat as it was snowing and freezing cold. As you know nature is acting out everywhere around the globe and good on her for we have taken her for granted far too long.
But Spring is here, oh sweet Spring…my heart is singing with the birds and my eyes feast on the colors of the abundance of flowers everywhere.
Start again
Spring is a time to come out of hiding, to dust of all the cobwebs of winter (I have been on a cleaning spree lately, got rid of lots of old books, tarot decks, clothing and dvd’s) and carefully tread outward and say hello to new opportunities. It is Springtime and we feel change is upon us…and rest assured, change is good, even though it may feel scary as the unknown is scary to most of us. I myself am learning more and more to stretch my comfort in the unknown as my nature can be to control. I am learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable and be okay with not knowing.
Do not push away your fear, stay with it until it calms down. Mother your fear, heal it with your love. Be strong and face a new cycle. Carefully tread outside and dance towards the unknown. Feel the air move through you and stir your inner waters. Feel it flow and sometimes rush through you. This unknown, this promise of a new Spring. A new opportunity to grow ripe fruits.
We can create it all.
Awe
Another Winter has past. Reflect and feel how this Winter changed you. What did the dark days and long nights bring you?
You may now let go of the thick covers and shed layers of clothing. It is time to show yourself. Softly release the Winter and open up to Spring. Gently letting the Sunshine in. Let the fresh air cleanse your mind and breathe in deep gusts of inspiration. And find that place of amazement in yourself, that place of wonder and awe. Because look around you and find beauty and solace in nature to inspire us in these uncertain and intense times.
The title of this post is in honor of Mark Hollis (so yes British colour with a ‘u’) of one of my favorite bands, Talk Talk, who past away far too young on 25th of February. May he rest peacefully. Thank you for the beautiful music.
