Happy Valentines Day!
I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one who may not have a special person to celebrate this day with. So why not treat yourself? Yes I know this day has been spoiled by commercialization and there is not a lot of romance left, but being a romantic soul, I do like the idea of this day celebrating romantic love (which is different from the Love we inherently are).
Saint Valentine
Now Valentines Day isn’t all roses and chocolates in its origins.
From February 13th to 15th the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. Lupercalia was dedicated to the goddess she-wolf Lupa, who suckled the twins Romulus and Remus, later the founders of Rome. The men sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slain as they believed this would make them fertile. This was followed by a matchmaking lottery and the formed couples performed love and sex rites in the Grotto of the She-Wolf in order to bring fertility to animals, land and people.
Also ancient sources reveal that there were several St. Valentines who died on February 14th. Two of them were executed during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius Gothicus in 269-270 A.D., at a time when persecution of Christians was common. Later, Pope Gelasius I muddled things in the 5th century by combining St. Valentine’s Day with Lupercalia to expel the pagan rituals.
Love spell
To celebrate this feast in a Pagan way but not having to sacrifice goats 😉 , I will be doing a Love Spell with oils, crystals and candles on this day. I feel I am ready for a relationship, my heart is ready to give a chance on love and open myself to meeting someone. For years I have been so preoccupied with family matters and other things, but I am opening up to the idea of meeting a romantic partner again. It must be Springtime!
Now with doing a Spell I do not mean imposing on anyone’s Free Will. I will not put a Spell on anyone, bewitch anyone. I will set a clear intention that I am ready to meet someone who is right for me at this time and give extra support to my heart which has a few band aids on it from past relationships. Now I will not be sharing any Spells here as I am a firm believer in doing your own solid research and study before you begin. This is not a game.
SoulCollage®
This weekend I facilitated a SoulCollage® workshop. And I was inspired to make a Valentines Day card.
“The intention of a SoulCollage® reading is to provide a way that our personal and powerful card images can actually speak aloud to us about important life questions. Images have a way of bypassing the chatter of our logical minds and nudging our deep Soul wisdom where intuitive answers can be found and spoken. Doing a reading in a supportive, small group is especially powerful because Souls love the silent embrace of witnesses.”
~ Seena B. Frost
A SoulCollage® Reading is not like the tarot as it doesn’t use existing cards, but it is done using one’s own collaged cards, which were made from images that called especially to you and you glued down on blank matboard cards.
The cards are “read” by one’s own intuition connected to spirit or one’s Higher Power. Your intuition in connection with the cards answers your question in the present.
