Happy belated Beltane. I wanted to post this earlier, but because of a severe migraine I couldn’t sit up and look at a screen. I haven’t had one this bad for a while, can’t keep anything down and could just lay down and wait for the pain to pass. I just got up and sort of adjusting to sitting upright. Slowly drinking some water. Hope to keep some food down later today.
But anyway May Day has past, May 1st marked the celebration of Beltane, the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice.
However many people believe that that Beltane is officially the beginning of summer where it was originally celebrated in Irish mythology, where cattle were driven to summer pastures. Ritual including bonfires, feasts and dancing took place. Today white witches and Wiccan’s celebrate this and cast magical spells, however it is a significant time for everyone as there is a huge shift in the energy as May is the month of manifesting where many things happen rapidly.
Beltane, halfway around the Wheel from Samhain, celebrates the light life-giving portion of the cycle, while Samhain represents the dark time of year, and the dying away portion of the cycle. At both of these windows, the veil between the worlds is thin, so stay open for magical messages from the spirit realm.
At Beltane the union of the Goddess and God is celebrated. Symbols and dances of sacred union and fertility abound. The dance of the May Pole, for instance, represents and celebrates the powerful union of the masculine and feminine principles. Each of us carries internally the two basic principles of masculine and feminine within our consciousness, and at this time of year you can find value in noticing how they are working together. Those two principles must join within you for any creation to come to fruition. Honor how they both work, and notice what they want to fertilize with their combined energy.
Beautiful fruitful creations to everyone.
Love and blessings, Charissa
